Dual life
We don’t offer joint life policies. Instead, we offer a dual life approach where both partners’ cover is kept separate. That way, if either partner dies, the other partner’s cover remains in place. Our dual life approach still only requires a single quote, application and direct debit.
Premium Waiver
If your client applies before their 65th birthday, Premium Waiver comes as standard. So if we offer someone cover, they automatically get waiver.
With Combined Life and Critical Illness Essentials, Premium Waiver pays out if your client is unable to work due to illness or injury after a 26-week deferred period.
Cancer focused additional payouts
Critical Illness Essentials includes 4 cancer focused additional payout conditions:
- Carcinoma in situ of the breast
- Low-grade prostate cancer
- Ovarian tumour of borderline malignancy/low malignant potential
- Testicular cancer of low grade
they pay out 30% of the cover amount up to a maximum of £30,000.
Built-in children's critical illness cover
Critical Illness Essentials has children’s critical illness cover built in. It covers the policyholder and their partner’s natural, step, legally adopted children or children under legal guardianship from 30 days old to age 18 (or 21 if they’re in full time education) and pays out £25,000 or 50% of the parent’s cover amount, whichever is lowest.
Add optional Children's Critical Illness Protection
Critical Illness Essentials policyholders can add Children’s Critical Illness Protection to their adult policy anytime. They can select any amount between £10,000 and £100,000, limited to the parent’s cover amount.
Part of our Protection Menu
Critical Illness Essentials is part of our Protection Menu. So, you can combine with our other cover types from either our Essentials or Protection ranges to create a single policy that meets your client’s needs perfectly.
Lifestyle promise
We may be able to reduce a client’s premium if they were paying an increased amount due to smoking, and they subsequently stop smoking.
Immediate cover
If your clients’ cover can’t start right away, we may put Immediate Cover in place for them. This is temporary cover of the same type you’ve applied for, and it starts as soon as you submit the application online to make sure there are no gaps in your clients’ protection.
Immediate Cover pays out a maximum of £300, 000 before we offer terms.
Guaranteed Increase Option
We offer most policyholders the chance to add to their cover with no underwriting, no medical evidence, no application form and no age limit.
Policyholders who have the guaranteed increase option on their policy can add to their cover with no underwriting, no medical evidence, no application form, and no age limit. See policy terms and conditions for more details.
Total permanent disability
Total permanent disability is optional. Your client can choose to add total permanent disability to their policy at application and remove it at any time.
If we offer your clients an own occupation definition of total permanent disability, we cover them while they’re working, until age 65. For retired or unemployed clients, we use activities of daily living instead.
Anniversary emails
Our anniversary emails remind clients of the benefits of their policy, including the additional benefits they can use anytime. It also prompts them to speak to their Financial Adviser if their circumstances have changed. You can view a copy of the emails your clients will receive each policy anniversary below, depending on if they have level or increasing cover.
